Hyperrealitites Experiment #2 Further Development

After looking at different posters, I began liking the idea of combining two colours together and make it look like it's been screen printed. Below are some examples of what I mean.

I re-created Eddie Murphy on Illustrator and I started looking at how to display the design and what colours to use. I decided to go with Yellow and Purple, contrasting colours to create that cool colour of the two colours fighting with each other, with one colour coming through the other.

Below is what I came up with. As you can see, I combined the two designs together and changed the opacity of the yellow design so the purple one can be seen. I like how it looks because it looks like it's coming off the page, but, I'm still unsure about the layout and the whole composition of it, it's a bit plain and boring, I want something to compliment the look of the design I created which is cool and groovy.

Hyperreality - Experiment #3

One of the ideas I had was to advertise myself and my website by using stickers or a meme. Since I am at that stage where I'm trying to get my work out there and trying to find somewhere to work, I thought of using the power of memes and stickers to advertise my name.

One of the research I have looked at was the 'Andre the Giant' stickers which was a street campaign by Shepard Fairey. It's the idea of getting things to manifest itself. It captured the people's curiosity and got them to question the sticker since there was a lack of information about it.

That is what I am trying to do, capture the people's curiosity by creating something that will get their attention and get them to find information about it.

I decided to create my own sticker with the same idea as the 'Andre the Giant' stickers. The idea was to create something that lacked information but just enough that will lead the viewer to my website.

I used the logo that I have created in one of my process and production sessions and I turned it into a sticker. I included '#uppercasex' to get the viewer to go on Twitter or Instagram and type the word in to find out more information about this sticker which will then lead to them to my design page then eventually, to my website.

I have experimented with it by changing the colours of it to see which one would stand out more, so it attracts the viewer's attention. I feel like the red works best because it stands out more but I do like the black and white one because it plays about with the negative space.

Hyperreality - Experiment #2

One of my ideas is to create a meme newspaper, where I design each story as a meme. I decided to experiment with this idea by buying my own newspaper, one that is popular at my local.

I decided to choose a story that I thought was important for people to know what is going on so I decided to go with the front page story.

Basically, the story is about how the government thought about doing this scheme where the public would get money for every time they would recycle their water bottles, e.g. if they took some of their water bottles back to the supermarket to recycle, they would get some sort of money but the government decided to scrap that idea, even though, it has been proven and it works in other countries.

I decided to go with this meme because it's very popular at the moment which makes sense to use it but also, it's that idea of the government trying to be smart by thinking, if we don't give money back to the public, we don't lose money, I tried to combine this thinking with this story.

Hyperreality - Experiment #1

I have previously looked at Illusions and it's something I was interested in doing, I like the idea of making something that doesn't seem possible. One of the illusions that I have looked at was Hologram 3D so I decided to experiment with it.

One of the ideas I had with this illusion was to create a social skills app that comes alive and off the screen, to make it as realistic as possible.

I previously looked at how to create a Hologram 3D for myself and I will use what I have learned to create one.

I felt like I needed help to create this, which is why I have teamed up with Charlie Hamnett to help me create this, we have combined our skills.

I just decided to create my own character of myself, only because I wanted to see if I could create a human looking character to pop up from the screen, since I could possible have a human on my social skills app that will interact with the viewer. I needed the character to move as well so I decided to make it dance and move to see if it works and how it looks.

This is the final video...

Bear: Feedback

06/12/2016 - Tracy

I spoke to Tracy today about what I have done so far in this project. I explained my idea to her which is I'm creating bear yoyo cards to promote healthy eating and I'm designing fruit and vegetables as superheroes or monsters to get the young viewer interested and involved.

The feedback I got was that I have to think about the parents as my target audience as well, not just the children. I need to find a way to get the parents on board with this idea and involved so they are happy.

One of the ideas I came up with was that a child can collect a certain amount of barcodes from the yoyo cards then they send it to the company for a chance for the child to meet bear because I know how highly rated bear is with the children, not only that, bear will go to their school and cook a healthy meal to promote healthy eating and the best thing is that the parents can get involved as well so the child and their parents could cook together which is quite nice.

Bear - Initial Fruit Sketches

Blueberries

The first character are in a group because that's how blueberries come in a pack, always together and it was inspired by the Pokemon called 'Exeggcute'. It has a protective layer because blueberries reduces damage from over sun exposure.

The second character (middle) is very small, just like a real blueberry and its very smart because blueberries improves brain function which is essential for intelligence. It can also reduce muscle damage.

The last character (right) is smart as well, just like the second character but the difference is that this character's brain can be seen.

Kiwi

The first character is young because eating 2/3 kiwis in a day can give you a youthful look. It has poo next to him and he's wearing a diaper because kiwis prevent constipation.

The second character (middle) is in the shape of a bird because it's supposed to be the kiwi bird, where the name came from and its wearing a chain which can make you go to sleep because eating 2/3 kiwis in a day can send you into a deep sleep.

The last character (right) has a protective layer because kiwi protects your skin from degeneration and he's young for the same reason as the first character. He's quick and has abundant energy because, again, eating 2/3 kiwis in a day gives you abundant energy.
